Intimate areas demand different types of care during different times of your life, it’s important to know what to do and when to do it.
Intimate care varies at different stages of life
There are many ideas on how one should care for their intimate areas, often we are left without the knowledge due to the shame in asking about these private matters. Each stage of your life requires different care. We’ve come up with a guide to help you through each stage.
Teenage years:
Puberty and the teenage years provide us with all the stuff we don’t really love or want, and they happen completely out of our control. It is for this very same reason that we are informed on how to take care of ourselves to make the journey a little bit easier. For example, by making sure we use gentle washes and creams; we also treat our skin the way it deserves.
Active years:
During our active years we continue going through hormonal imbalances, menstruation and more, which can often lead to us feeling un-fresh, sweaty or sticky, all of which we can also feel in our intimate area. A good way to feel fresh is washing your intimate area every day, and when you wash, you will need a lightly scented refreshing shower cream that is mild and designed to avoid skin discomfort. Remember that products that are too heavily scented can cause uncomfortable skin. Always make sure you get washing creams that are specifically for the intimate area.
Postpartum:
Soothing after postpartum is an essential aspect of recovery for new mothers, encompassing both physical and emotional well-being. By making sure you use a soothing and cooling shower gel that is pH-balanced, but also contains Prebiotic and Lactic acid, you can keep your intimate area soothed and help prevent it from discomfort.
Menopause:
Going through menopause is never easy on the body. With the experience comes hot flashes, slowed metabolism, sleep problems and mood swings. Dryness around the intimate area can lead to discomfort, if not taken care of properly. The best way to soothe the skin is by choosing a gentle cleansing, mild and creamy cleansing cream that also rehydrates the skin and creates a protective layer.
Remembering me-time is vital
You should take care of yourself through all the different stages of womanhood, there are things in life that matter throughout the whole journey. Healthy relationships with food, regular exercise, taking a walk, drinking water, meditating, journaling, reading your favourite book or watching that tv-series you have been postponing, these are all crucial to your well-being. While you take care of yourself in every physical way, don’t forget to give love to your mental self. The inner little version of your that fights to keep you going every day, deserves love and care.
